Triacastela to Sarria. Day 29

We arrived here early today. Yesterday we arrived so late in Treiacastella that we were determined to get here with entry of time to relax and rest and get some laundry done (not by hand). This is a beautiful albergue though the door on is a bit short--perhaps made for Hobbiits which seems to be the theme of late.

We had another beautiful walk toast though leaving the mountains does make us a bit sad. Yesterday we took a taxi from Fondeia to Triacastela to avoid the steep descent (and save our knees). The cab was a BMW and hugged the curves quite well--a bit close for our liking especially after wAlking so many kilometers. Even so, it was nice not to have stressed out our knees.

We've been so lucky with the weather yet we know that here in Galicia it can be very unpredictable. Not to worry, after such good weather we won't comain about anything. Five more says to Santiago.

Andrew would love this pizza--French Fries on top!
After lunch shots --guess the bartender /waiter thought we needed a little something extra.
Barb and Ellen are in Sarria. What a great surprise!
Dinner table for communal dinner. What a fabulous  meal. Soup salad and tapas followed by cake and after dinner drinks.

Michele doesn't like the shot too much. The second one was a different kind.

So now we find ourselves at the almost-100 km mark. This is where many begin their pilgrimage. One must walk  the last 100k in order to receive a compostela or certificate of completion. It will be interesting to find ourselves on a much more crowded trail with pilgrims who are just beginning a journey we began so long ago.

We now book our albergues ahead of time both so we can take our time and not leave until daylight and ensure we have a place to our our heads at night. Santiago will be very crowded...and I am already looking forward to the quiet walk to Finisterre post-Santiago.
