Navarette to Azfora. Day 9

Heather:  the largest town we went through today is Navarra. Not sure you will find it on a map.

Great albergue last night--4 bunks in our room plus a cot and a bathroom with two sets of everything just for us.  Today we are at an albergue in which are all double rooms and no bunks!  There is a beautiful courtyard where we hang our clothes to dry and a small pool with fountain for soaking our tired feet. Plenty of tables and chairs.

Speaking of tired feet-- we have decided that the movie The Way doesn't really do the camino justice. Where are the complaints of sore feet, blisters, aches and pains. Not to mention how difficult this can be emotionally. Oh, and no one who has planned ahead wears jeans. They would not dry in time. Not sure why Martin Sheen has on that winter jacket either. It gets pretty hot walking.  Oh well. Enough on that subject.

Sent my pack on ahead today to give my knee one more day of rest. It was about 23k and it felt okay. Back to carrying the pack tomorrow.

On the road by 6:30 this morning, which was good because it is getting hotter as the day goes on. The moon was up and then I watched the sun come up (behind me). Walked through vineyards today.

Mass was at noon today so I missed it and now the church is locked. Sad. Maybe tomorrow I will get to visit some. Didn't stop at any in Navarra because I didn't want to go in during a mass.

These small towns do well with pilgrim money.

Buen camino.
